Indie title Kentucky Route Zero has cats, robotic country singers, helpful eagles

Yes, it's true. Kentuckians still dress like Loretta Lynn from the sixties if they are female, and men still wear their pants rolled up and meander around Mammoth Cave barefoot.

Proof of these fashion choices can be found in the video below for a very interesting, and surreal looking independent game from Cardboard Computer called Kentucky Route Zero.

In it, players will slowly pace their way around strange environments and chat up people along the way. At one point, the hero, Conway, meets "a robotic country singer named Junebug who is trapped in the abandoned restaurant that once employed her", and has to explore the cave below the place so the security system can be disabled and free her from her lonely torment.

Players will also explore a Civil War era battleship which is on the bank of an underground river and is run rampant with cats. Sounds like Kentucky, alright.

Watch the video below, which is graced by the lovely old Bluegrass Hymn "I Can't Feel at Home in This World Anymore", originally recorded by The Carter Family.  We're unsure who's performing it in the video, but they're doing a bang up job.
