Inaugural EVO scholarship now accepting applications

EVO fans have helped fund a $10,000 scholarship to help a competitive gamer study their way into the industry.

The scholarship is open to any competitive gamer with high enough marks, who plans to commence full time study on a games-related degree at a US institution this northern autumn.

To check the eligibility criteria and apply, visit Shoryuken.

The scholarship was fully funded by pay-per-view HD streams. EVO and Shoryuken intend to make it an annual tradition, apparently in order to foster the spirit of competitive gaming.

"It’s critical to support the next generation of players and help show that competitive gaming is not just a way to test yourself, earn great prizes, and connect with fellow players, it can also be a gateway to a fulfilling industry profession," EVO co-founder Tom "Inkblot" Cannon said.
