ID@Xbox snags Everspace, Xbox One and PC date confirmed

Crowd-funded roguelike goes green.

ID@Xbox, Microsoft's indie incubator, has snagged Everspace. The crowd-funded roguelike will release on Xbox One and PC in 2016.

The game, which netted €420,252 in a Kickstarter campaign, describes itself as "a single-player 3D space shooter with rogue-like elements and non-linear storytelling from the creators of the Galaxy on Fire series."

Galaxy on Fire and Galaxy on Fire 2 released for mobile in 2005 and 2008 respectively.

It sounds as though Everspace isn't the easiest concept to relay.

"You could say that it is a lovechild of FTL: Faster Than Light and Freelancer, which resonates really well with our new and old fans alike," said Michael Schade, CEO of developer Rockfish, speaking to Xbox Wire.

"But also Rogue Legacy and The Binding of Isaac – which are fantastic roguelikes that made us come up with some new ideas, for a new breed of space shooter."
