Hyper Light Drifter Kickstarter launches with incredible pixel art and Disasterpiece music
Described by its developer Alex Preston as being like the best bits of A Link to the Past and Diablo, Hyper Light Drifter seeks to capture the feeling of the "best 8-bit and 16-bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale". "Inspired by nightmare and dreams alike" the game, targeting a Windows, Mac and Linux release in June 2014. It already looks and sound absolutely incredible.
Although there are no current plans, Preston says he'll consider console versions if the game generates enough money, although the amount it would require is unspecified. The game does have explicit stretch goals however, including a co-op campaign at $100,000 which doesn't look like it should be too hard, as the game's gathered $13,000 on its first day alone.
The game can be bought for $10, although at $25 you get beta access and at $40 you get a digital art book, which seems like it's almost compulsory given the quality of art on display.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
