Horizon Zero Dawn version 1.03 patch notes don't tell us very much, but hopefully this update fixes your progression issues

Horizon Zero Dawn has received its first post-release update. What does it actually do?

Horizon Zero Dawn was updated to version 1.03 yesterday.

The only reason we know this is we switched on a PS4 and got a pop-up; Sony and Guerrilla haven't said anything about a Horizon Zero Dawn update.

As such, the patch notes are limited to what's available in the PS4 system notifications. Here's the laughably short public change log for Horizon Zero Dawn 1.03:

  • multiple crash and progression fixes

Yep, that's it - that's all the information we get. The good news is the 1.03 update was only 227.9MB in size (although that's as big as both day-one Horizon Zero Dawn patches combined), so it's a very quick download.

We didn't encounter any crashes or progression bugs in our time with the game; Horizon Zero Dawn is about as close to perfect as an open world can be. But it's nice to see Guerrilla acting so quickly to squash important bugs for those who have come across them.

With any luck one of the undetailed changes in the Horizon Zero Dawn 1.03 update is a fix for the door to the ruins in Mother's Embrace, which won't open if you fast travel in. You can get around this by walking over from a distance, but it was frustrating some people trying to get all the power cells to complete the Ancient Armor side quest for the best outfit in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Let us know if you notice any particular changes or improvements to Horizon Zero Dawn after applying this patch, and keep an eye out for more details should Sony grace us with them.
