Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds - see what went into the creation of the Banuk tribe

Horizon Zero Dawn players will soon get to finally visit the much talked about Banuk tribe when the The Frozen Wilds expansion releases next week.

Until then, there's still time to learn more about how developer Guerrilla Games created a whole new culture for Horizon Zero Dawn. If you played the main story, references to the mysterious third tribe - the Banuk - were all over the game world.

In the Frozen Wilds expansion, we get to finally go there. The Banuk live in the northern most part of the game world, a snowy place called The Cut. This particular tribe favours a nomadic lifestyle, living in harmony with machines and other natural creations.

In the video below, studio art director Jan-Bart van Beek, narrative director John Gonzalez, lead concept artist Roland IJzermans, and lead writer Ben McCaw talk about the different aspects that went into the tribe's creation, their culture, and the significance of the location.
