Horizon Zero Dawn designer Mike Nash has passed away
No cause of death has been given yet.
Horizon Zero Dawn artist and designer Mike Nash has passed away, aged 36.
News that the designer had died was shared by his former colleagues on social media but no cause of death has been given as of yet. Nash worked on a variety of projects, including Guerrilla's Horizon Zero Dawn as the lead mechanical designer for the 2017 title. He helped create that game's mech dinosaurs which the game is largely known for.
Aside from that project, Nash worked on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Forza Horizon for Playground Games as well as Neil Blomkamp's film Chappie.
"Mike Nash was a hardworking individual who would put in the hours to get better and try to do the best work possible. Mike has sadly left us and has passed away," Gavriil Klimov, one of Nash's colleagues at Nvidia wrote on Twitter.
"I would like for the CG and art community to remember him for his legacy of outstanding visual 3D work above all."
His art has been memorialised over on ArtStation.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family in this difficult time.
Horizon Zero Dawn launched in March 2017 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive before coming to PC in August 2020. A sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, was announced last year.
