Hood: Outlaws and Legends trailer offers the best look at gameplay yet

It can be a bit hard to explain the conceit of Hood: Outlaws and Legends, but that's what some trailers are for.

Sumo Digital has today debuted a new trailer for Hood: Outlaws and Legends, the studio's ambitious multiplayer heist action game. Outlaws and Legends is a class-based affair where players are tasked with outsmarting their opponents, and AI-controlled enemies.

This PvPvE setup is not unique to Hood: Outlaws and Legends, of course, but the goal of finding and stealing a treasure is part of what makes it altogether different. Today's new trailer, embedded above, lays out the game's 4v4 setup where two rival gangs race to locate a vault, and find a key to unlock it and claim the prize within.

Similar to Hunt: Showdown, players could simply allow the other team to do most of the work, and ambush them at the vault. The same ambush could even be set up at any of the extraction zones, where defenders would have to also contend with AI enemies chasing after them. We get a general overview of Outlaws and Legends' four classes, and how they each work in stealth and combat scenarios.

Beyond the immediate benefits of successfully pulling off a heist, Outlaws and Legends also offers a metagame layer where you get to spend your hard-earned riches on upgrading your hideout, which in turn lets you unlock new abilities and further customise your heroes with cosmetics.

Sumo gets bonus points for hiring Hitman's Jane Perry to narrate the action. Hood: Outlaws and Legends comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 10.
