Hitman: Absolution gets three new platform-specific contracts
Hitman: Absolution fans will find a new contract waiting for them today, no matter which platform they choose to visit Agent 47 on.
Shack News reports one unique new contract each has been released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - although all three sound pretty interesting.
The PC version has players visiting a haunted house, while the PS3 mission involves a a pyromaniac ice cream vendor. The Xbox 360 one is a massacre in a doughnut shop.
The new content comes with a promise that 2014 will be an exciting year for the series. Square Enix recently reiterated that the franchise is still current, despite the cancellation of Square Enix Montreal's effort and the studio's subsequent refocus on mobile, which we've known about since September.
Square Enix is going through something of a transitional period. After its western-developed 2012 and early 2013 lineup failed to sell as well as it expected, one key Japanese executive called for significant changes to its development philosophies while another planned a fundamental review of the business, despite blame being placed on softness in the market.
Former Thief creative director Stehane D'Astous parted ways with the company slinging bitter criticisms, and Square Enix implemented an executive shuffle. But that hasn't stopped the lay-offs, both at Hitman developer IO Interactive and Square Enix's management level.
