Hide your shameful gaming secrets with the new Steam beta client

Valve has released a new Steam beta client allowing you to indulge in your secret gaming shames in privacy.

Let's say you don't want your friends to know you're playing a mildly erotic romance sim. Or perhaps you just don't want you significant other to see you've totted up yet another 100 hours in Skyrim or Civilization 5. Or maybe you just made some purchases you've come to regret.

Enter Steam's latest beta client, which allows you to nominate individual games to hide in your library. These games will never appear in your library list except in the "Hidden" filter, but you can still play them at your leisure.

Unfortunately this has limited application at present as the games will still appear in your public profile should someone bother to browse through it - so really, it only protects you from people looking over your shoulder.

Well, I guess it also means you don't see Skyrim every time you log in to use YNAB. And that's a useful psychological barrier to losing days to Bethesda.
