Heroes of Ruin is easy for shooter fans to "get"

N-Space is counting on Heroes of Ruin having broader appeal than your typical Square Enix RPG fare.

“I think we’ve got a lot more mainstream appeal than just another RPG would or just another action game would [have],” producer Tim Schwalk told Siliconera.

"If I had a copy of this, and I really wanted to play with magic, I could choose an appropriate character. But my buddy who always plays Call of Duty and Madden, he can jump in as a Gunslinger. He’s got bombs and guns, and he’s going to ‘get it,’ you know?"

Heroes of Ruin is described internally as an action-adventure rather than an action RPG.

“I think that’s one thing we were trying to do, to differentiate ourselves from other RPG genres specifically,” Schwalk said.

Heroes of Ruin is expected on 3DS in early 2012.
