Here's your first look at Nier: Automata gameplay
A new video for Nier: Automata has been released by Square Enix.
Shown during a stage presentation at Paris Games Week, new details were also passed along adding color to what was revealed earlier in the week.
As noted in the link above, invaders from another world have attacked earth without warning using machines as weapons. Due to not being able to curb the assault, humans take refuge on the moon where they develop an army of android soldiers to fight the mechanical horde.
It slows the advance, but doesn't stem the tide; therefore, they create a new breed of android infantry called the YoRHa squad.
In Nier: Automata players take on the role of the YoRHa No. 2, Model B, “2B”, an all-purpose battle android.
She is equipped with a sword for close quarters combat, and can attack from range using the “Pod” support system. Her eyes are obscured beneath her military visor, which she rarely removes.
Members of the YoRHa squad aren't given names. Instead, they are referred to by their code numbers. Regulations "forbid them from expressing emotions," but each model has its own distinguishing personality.
Nier: Automata is in development for exclusively for PlayStation 4 and is without a release date.
