Over on the PS Blog, the husband and wife team have provided details on how game's local co-op feature, Sellswords, will work.

In short, players will place statues found throughout the game world on Sanctuary alters. Upon doing this, the player will be able to permanently summon a villager of that type to the sanctuary.

When a player calls upon a Sellsword and decides to “Hire” them, a prompt will appear on screen telling a second player to pick up a controller. This player will then be able to pick anyone in the roster to play alongside their couch buddy.

Co-op play provides and extra challenge as once activated, enemy health will be scaled up quite a bit and they will also dole out extra damage. Players can perform a prayer of healing to help their injured friend provided they are within a set radius. A Revive prayer "might even make an appearance."

The game also contains PvP, which is activated by crushing an Egg of Wrath. There can only be one winner, which means it is a fight to the death.

You can read up the co-op and PvP features in the game over on the EU PS Blog.

More information on a release date is expected sometime "during the week of" March 7.

Salt and Sanctuary is in development for PlayStation 4 and Vita, and will be cross-buy. The Vita version will be released sometime after the console version.
