Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury extended gameplay shows Snapshot Mode, amiibo bonuses

Nintendo has released an extended look at Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and has offered some additional information on gameplay.

Super Mario 3D World for Switch will contain the addition of Bowser's Fury, and you can see more of that in action in this overview trailer.

You can bounce and climb through dozens of stages and use power-ups like the Super Bell, which grants catlike abilities like climbing and scratching. Once you acquire the Super Bell, you will transform into Cat Mario to use the aforementioned moves and other cat actions.

Grabbing double cherries will also split Mario into multiple versions, and there are other power-ups that will turn the plumber into Fire Mario, Tanooki Mario, Boomerang Mario, Mega Mario, and more.

A new feature with the game is Snapshot Mode. Here, you will be able to freeze time in the game to take shots. The mode allows you to zoom in, add filters, and use any stamps you have found. These are scattered across courses and can be added to shots you have taken.

In Bowser's Fury, the free-roaming adventure takes you to various islands in Lake Lapcat to collect Cat Shines to reignite lighthouses and clear darkened terrain. Here, Bowser Jr. teams up with Mario. This where a buddy can jump in to play as the character, who can fly around fighting enemies and discovering secrets. If you use the Bowser Jr. amiibo, it unleashes a powerful shockwave to knockout nearby enemies and blocks.

The area features water, and to get around, you will be able to hop onto Plessie's back to navigate the terrain.

After a certain amount of time, the world will change when Boswer appears in full fury as Fury Bowser. His falling spikes will change the terrain, and there seems to be nowhere to hide from his attacks. But in order to defeat him, Mario can match his might with the Giga Bell, which lets him transform into Giga Cat Mario and go into battle. In order to use the bell though, you must break its seal by collecting Cat Shrines.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will arrive for Switch on February 12. In the Super Mario 3D World part of the game, you can go through courses with friends and family with both online and local co-op multiplayer for up to four players, taking on the roles of characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad.
