Hearthstone's first 2016 expansion Whispers of the Old Gods out this spring
The painting on the building in Brooklyn was right: Hearthstone's first expansion for 2016 is called Whispers of the Old Gods.
The expansion will add 134 new cards to the game which are themed around Legendary Old Gods of the WarCraft universe: C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, Y’Shaarj, and N’Zoth .
A Legendary C’Thun card and two Beckoner of Evil cards are includes in the first Old Gods card pack.
Whispers of the Old Gods is slated for release in late April or early May, and card packs will be available through the in-game Shop for either gold or real money at the same price as previous Hearthstone card packs.
Starting March 14, players will be able to pre-purchase a 50-pack bundle of Whispers of the Old Gods card packs for $49.99 prior to the Expansion’s official release. Doing so will reward them with a new card back as a pre-purchase bonus.
As part of the launch, anyone logging into the Inn during the upcoming promotional period, which has yet to be dated after purchasing the cards pack will receive C’Thun and two Beckoner of Evil cards free.
The expansion will also include the new Ranked gameplay modes Standard and Wild which were announced in February.
You can find out everything there is to know about the new expansion over on Metabomb who spoke with Hearthstone's Ben Brode last week at Blizzard headquarters.
