Have you played Orwell yet? Everyone on Twitter seems to love it
Everyone's talking about Orwell. Let's not be left out.
Orwell is a five-part indie thriller adventure which released in weekly episodes and wrapped up earlier this month.
I kept meaning to check it out but the last two months have been, uh, interesting, so I completely failed to tell you about it in time for you to be ahead of the trend. Soz.
Now that it's Turkey Day and we have time to breathe, I'm revisiting the topic - mainly because everyone on my Twitter feed who has played it has been raving about how good it is. The handful of reviews on Metacritic have been very positive indeed, and it has a 92% approval rating on Steam.
Orwell has you snooping around in other people's lives in an attempt to thwart a terrorist plot, and so I assume the title is a reference to George Orwell, author of the seminal Nighteen Eighty-Four, from which we derive phrases like Big Brother and thought police. In this era of increasing concern regarding privacy, big data, surveillance and Internet security, it's a pretty relevant theme. Apparently it takes some pretty unexpected turns along the way, too.
If you're keen to give it a go, you've nothing to lose - the first episode is available free on Steam. If you enjoy it, the full, completed season will set you back $10 on Steam or the Humble Store. Windows only, by the way.
If you enjoy Orwell, come back and tell me all about it so I'm motivated to clear it out of my groaning backlog, will you?
