Halo soundtrack recreated for Anniversary release

Halo: Combat Evolved's iconic soundtrack has been fully re-recorded for the Anniversary edition. Naturally, they're not messing with it in any way.

GameInformer reports the game's original score will be exactly reproduced.

343 Industries called on Pyramid Studios to re-record the game's music. The Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and Chanticleer vocal ensemble have been brought on board for the instantly recognisable orchestral flourishes and soaring choral stings.

"It was a huge undertaking to transcribe, orchestrate, and produce every note from the original game soundtrack files,” Pyramind Studios audio director Paul Lipson said..

“Our team approached every aspect of the music with an immense amount of skill and care, keeping the core Halo sound while updating the production to today’s highest standards.”

Pyramid has recorded scores for Infamous 2, Halo, BioShock 2, God of War, and God of War II.

The original score was penned by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori. The former has said he both regrets and is liberated by stepping away from the score which has dominated his working life for many years.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is expected on Xbox 360 in mid-November.
