Halo Fest details 3D, maps for Halo: Anniversary, updates to Reach

343 Industries has kicked off PAX Prime and Halo Fest with map details for Halo: Anniversary.

According to Major Nelson, the reimagined battlefields and brand new Firefight map will include Timberland, Prisoner and Installation 04.

Timberland, which was originally on Halo PC will allow 8 –16 players, Prisoner from Combat Evolved 2 – 8 players, and Installation 04 is returning in Firefight mode which will include ally AI players who will defend the installation alongside you. It allows for 1 – 4 players.

Previously announced maps available for play at Halo Fest include Damnation, and Beaver Creek. Halo: Anniversary will support stereoscopic 3D-TV, and this is also on display at Halo Fest.

343 also announced a Halo: Reach title update which will include the return of the Halo: Combat Evolved Magnum pistol to Halo: Anniversary and Halo: Reach multiplayer, supported in special, classic playlists.

The update, targeted for release in October, will also include multiplayer fixes such as armor lock now absorbing a level of damage based on "the amount of remaining energy a player has," a reduction in Active Camo’s duration, and the ability to block sword attacks using any weapon other than another sword has been disabled. The reticle “bloom” is now configurable in precision firing, and will deliver increased accuracy when firing in rapid succession.

This update will also enable Reach players using a 4GB Xbox 360 without a HDD to utilize Campaign and Firefight matchmaking which previously required a HDD.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be available November 15.
