Halo 4 playlist update adds plasma paintball, other crazy game modes

Halo 4 developer 343 Industries has gone a bit nuts with its latest playlist update, adding some truly mad, but very fun-sounding game modes into rotation.

In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 listed the contents of its Monday update, starting with Team DLC, which brings two weeks of team modes into the mix, such as SWAT, Extraction, Regicide, Slayer, King of the Hill, Snipers, Ricochet and Oddball. The modes apply to the following DLC maps:

  • Skyline
  • Monolith
  • Landfall
  • Daybreak
  • Harvest
  • Vertigo
  • Pitfall

Team Doubles also brings King of the Hill to this selection of maps:

  • Haven
  • Abandon
  • Simplex
  • The Ark
  • Fallout
  • Pitfall
  • Skyline

Now for the madness. 343 confirmed that the Action Sack playlist will see a new Paintball mode added to rotation, which sees players fighting each other with one-hit-kill Plasma Pistols on a map inspired by Speedball. Jump height is reduced and there's only one life per round. The new arena was crafted by community member 'petetheduck.'

Husky Raid is truly nuts, and is a spin on Capture the Flag that sees both teams start on a small platform next to their flag and a selection of random weapons. Enemy players and their flag are directly in front of them. The 4v4 battle takes place on a single lane and sounds crazy.

Finally, 4v4 mode Clang of the Hill gives each player an energy sword and thruster pack, chucking them into a King of the Hill battle.
