Halo 4 OST takes record for highest-charting game soundtrack debut

I'm breaking Pat's informal "no soundtracks" rule because Halo 4's already gone and broken something - Billboard's records for game soundtracks.

The shooter's OST has debuted in 50th place on the overall charts, the highest-charting game soundtrack to date, according to Billboard's report.

The soundtrack sold just under 9,000 copies, beating previous debut record holder Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - Companion Pack.

That said, Halo 2 actually holds the record for highest sales week for a soundtrack, which outstripped its younger brother in its second week on sale; let's see of Halo 4 out-performs its progenitor in the following chart week, when the game has actually launched.

In general soundtracks, Halo 4 is in third position. Five Halo games have made the soundtrack chart to date.

Halo 4 launches on November 6 exclusively for Xbox 360.

Thanks, Joystiq.
