Bastion and Transistor developer Supergiant announces Hades, and it's available now

Supergiant Games, the indie team behind Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre, has revealed - and released - its newest project.

Hades is Supergiant's new game, a rogue-like dungeon crawler featuring the studio's well recognised art style. The game was revealed at The Game Awards last night, and it's available for purchase now at $20.

Hades, like Ashen and a few other games, launches exclusively through Epic Games Store. Hades is in early access, and Supergiant is promising regular updates which will be adding new characters, locations, powers, weapons and more.

The game is set in the underworld of Greek myth and you'll be able to make use of various powers inspired by the various gods. While the developer doesn't have a release target for Hades just yet, it did confirm the game will be coming to "other platforms" when the full version launches.

Early access is a bit of a weird fit for a Supergiant game, mostly because of how story-focused the studio's work tends to be. The developer has taken this into account, and the story is structured in a similar fashion to episodic games where future content updates can expand the story without making what's available today underwhelming.
