H1Z1 confirmed as post-apocalyptic MMO, will be 'fully playable soon'
H1Z1 has been announced as Sony Online Entertainment's latest MMO. It's a post-apocalyptic affair and will be playable soon according to SOE boss John Smedley.
As teased last night, the game will be revealed through a Game Talk Live podcast which will be broadcast at 8pm EDT.
"H1Z1 is an MMO that allows players to take on the roll of an apocalypse survivor who is in a world that is filled with zombies," Smedley told Game talk Live via Polygon which was apparently given early access to the cast.
Smedley wrote on Twitter people will be able to "play it soon, and by play I mean play fully."
H1Z1 was played by Smedley in the vide podcast, and it's supposed to be a scary MMO, with occurrences such as "a zombie coming up to you with nothing but a highway flare."
Players will also be able to "light things on fire."
"We are in the middle of putting that in so you are gonna be able to burn down trees, burn down stuff, and that's gonna be a lot of fun," said Smedley. "The idea is that these players [are] building these forts and all of the sudden these other guys coming in lighting it on fire and waiting till they come out of the fortress ... is awesome."
A day and night cycle will also come into to play in the game, and it "gets really dark at night" which means players will need to carry a torch in order to see.
Players will also get "ganked by other players [and] zombies," but vehicles will be available and possibly aircraft.
"Our goal is to build out this entire massive massive world that is this apocalypse of the United States," Smedley continued.
