Guillermo del Toro: Games are art, more info on THQ game coming in two weeks

"Videogames are the comic books of our time. It's a medium that gains no respect among the intellegensia. They say 'oh, videogames.' And most people that complain about videogames have never f**king played them," filmmaker Guillermo del Toro said during a book reading in Portland, Oregon.

"They are an art form and anyone saying differently is a little out of touch because they are a narrative art form."

He listed Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Marathon, and Halo as particular favorites - going so far as to call Fumito Ueda's legendary pair masterpieces.

The Hell Boy and Pan's Labyrinth director also noted that he sees the official announcement of his partnership with THQ coming in about two weeks. The pairing, of course, is common knowledge, but THQ has yet to change its Facebook status to "in a relationship," so to speak.

To which we reply: hurry up, THQ! Give this man whatever he wants. He says good things and we like him. Also, if his game's half as creepy as The Orphanage, we won't sleep for months. In a good way.
