Guerrilla Cambridge, developer of PS VR game Rigs, has been closed
Guerrilla Cambridge, the developer behind PS VR title Rigs, Vita FPS Killzone Mercenary, and many other titles across 19 years, has been closed by Sony.
In a statement reported by BBC, a spokeswoman for Sony stated that the company's 50 employees would be let go
"We believe we will be in a stronger position going forward and able to offer the best possible content of the highest quality to our players", the statement reads. "This decision should not take anything away from the incredible games and services that Guerrilla Cambridge has delivered."
While attempts will be made to relocate some of the staff now made redundant, there's no guarantee that all of them will land elsewhere.
This is one of the unfortunate realities of the industry: last year, Sony closed DriveClub and Motorstorm developer Evolution Studios as well.
Guerrilla Games Amsterdam, the developer behind the upcoming Horizon: Zero Dawn and PS4 launch title Killzone: Mercenary, will not be affected by this news.
Our thoughts go out to the affected employees.
