Guardians of Middle-Earth announced for PC

Lords of the Rings MOBA Guardians of Middle-Earth has been confirmed for PC release, courtesy of publisher Warner Bros.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, the publisher confirmed an August 29 release date on Steam and other digital retailers at £14.99. Blacklight: Retribution developer Zombie Studios is on porting duties.

If you've already got the game on PS3 or Xbox 360 you may be eligible for a code for the base game on PC. Check out the site for details.

Warner confirmed that the PC release will feature all 36 characters from the console edition, as well as three modes and six maps including The Shire, Goblin-town and Mirkwood. You will also be able to buy 36 alternate Guardian skins over Steam and the game will also have Steamworks integration, big picture mode and a variety of controller support options.

The £14.99 release comes with Gandalf, Galadriel, Thráin, Gollum, Hildifons and Legolas and their alternate skins, while further guardians will be available as DLC. If you want all the content at once you can buy the Mithril Edition at £60.99, which includes all 36 playable Guardians, 36 alternate skins, the Mithril Guardian Relic and a buddy key.

The 36 alternate Guardian skins can be bought in class-specific packs that include five Guardians and their five alternate skins for £11.99 each. You can also buy Smaug’s Treasure, which includes a stack of in-game currency and Smaug’s Greed Relic for £6.99.

If you pre-order the Mithril Edition on Steam you will get 10 per cent off the price, while those who pre-order the standard edition get 10 per cent off the game as well as a Company of Dwarves bundle, including five playable Guardians including Ori, Nori, Glóin, Kíli, Thorin Oakenshield and their alternate skins.
