GTA PR lead "wouldn't argue" with scandal claims, but doesn't remember

Max Clifford, who was credited this week with manufacturing a scandal over the original Grand Theft Auto, has said it sounds like something he'd do, even if he doesn't remember it.

Speaking with CVG, Clifford said he doesn't remember the incidents described in the report.

"It was such a long time ago and we've done hundreds of things since then. I'm not being funny but I do fifty of these kinds of campaigns each year," he said

Although he noted specifically that he doesn't remember which publications and politicians he went to during the game's PR campaign, Clifford said that he "wouldn't argue with the claims published in the paper".

"Most of those things published in the Sunday Times I had forgotten about, to be honest with you," he added.

Clifford doesn't seem at all phased by the suggestion that he exploited controversy to help shill the game/

"We've taken on controversial things over the years but we've turned down controversial things over the years. You have a look at it, you weigh it all up and you take it from there, and sometimes you work with people's double-standards and hypocrisy," he said.
