GTA Online? More like GTA Offline, amirite.
GTA Online down for maintenance Wednesday morning
Can't log in to GTA Online? Don't worry, buddy - it's not you, and it's not the console networks, either.
Rockstar is taking the GTA Online servers down for maintenance in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The downtime kicks off at 1:00am EDT April 27 and is expected to last about five hours.
Most games don't warrant a maintenance post beyond their initial launch windows unless we know something major is going on as a result - even juggernauts like Grand Theft Auto 5. But in this case, an extended outage is so rare that it's well worth mentioning. Rockstar hardly ever takes its multi-million dollar sandbox offline.
Although GTA Online doesn't go down much it's definitely not because it's a perfect wonderland of technical stability, and we have some faint hopes that this maintenance will result in better performance. Not holding our breath, though. No patch notes or further explanation have been offered.
Are you still playing GTA Online? It still seems to be going strong even more than two and a half years after launch. Certainly it looks like the popularity of the online multiplayer suite has ruined our chances of getting any single-player DLC.
