GT5 still on for pre-christmas release, says SCEA

SCEA marketing exec Peter Dille has told Siliconera that Gran Turismo 5 is still on for a pre-christmas release.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with the site, Dille reiterated a statement given by Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi after the racer got a worldwide delay last month.

"Yeah, Kazunori came out with a comment that they are working on a few last things," he said.

"He apologized to the community, but explained it is coming before Christmas. We haven’t put a date to that yet, but we will just as soon as we get word from him when he’s done."

Asked if the released also applied to the US as well as Japan, Dille basically said: "That’s correct."

Kazunori confirmed earlier this week the game had finally gone gold and that it was being pressed onto Blu-rays now.

He revealed yesterday that development on GT6 has already begun.
