GTA III 10th Anniversary Ed announced for iOS, Android
Rockstar's announced this afternoon it's releasing Grand Theft Auto III on iOS and Android as part of the game's tenth anniversary this fall.
Devices supported include:
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
"Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games," said Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser. "It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since."
The game will be playable at New York ComicCon later this weekend.
Rockstar's also announced to celebrate GTA III's tenth anniversary the release of a special figurine of main character Claude, who will come with normal baggy pant & bomber coat and his orange Liberty City Penitentiary jumpsuit.
You can pre-order that here.
Grand Theft Auto III launched on PlayStation 2 in October 2001 as an exclusive - a story which was detailed last November by ex-SCEE boss David Reeves - before making the jump to Xbox in 2003 with the Grand Theft Auto Double Pack alongside Vice City.
It was, without any shadow of a doubt, the first true open-world game of its kind.
