Gran Turismo movie will tell the story of real-life racer Lucas Ordonez
A Gran Turismo movie seems a strange prospect, but new details have emerged that actually make it seem like an interesting idea. Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi explained at gamescom that the film will tell the life story of Lucas Ordonez, a racer who started out playing Gran Turismo before he graduated to the real thing.
At the helm of the project are film-makers Mike de Luca and Dana Brunetti. Yamauchi said that he's been getting offers for a Gran Turismo movie for the last 7 years. After turning down every offer, Yamauchi was won over by this script's story of growth and maturity.
There's also been some explanation as to why the Gran Turismo 6 trailer shown at gamescom yesterday featured Nike and Air Jordan logos. Yamauchi explained that each company is independently designing a custom vehicle design for upcoming game Vision Gran Turismo. Nike previously designed a vehicle for Gran Turismo 4.
There's no word on a release window for the Gran Turismo movie. It probably won't have Vin Diesel in it.
Thanks, Destructoid.
