Google drops Stadia Premiere Edition to $100, but takes away the Pro trial
The Stadia Premiere Edition is now a bit cheaper, though not really.
Google has announced a new price for the Stadia Premiere Edition bundle. It now costs $100 instead of $130, but it's not actually a price cut.
The bundle still comes with a Chromecast Ultra, and a Stadia Controller, but Google dropped the three-month Stadia Pro trial. Pro is Stadia's paid tier of subscription, and unlocks 4K HDR quality and 5.1 surround sound. By default, a monthly Pro membership costs $10.
But, since Google made the basic tier free earlier this year, you could argue that there's no longer a need for Pro to act as a demo of the service. Pro members have access to free monthly games, which currently stand at 18 titles.
It's worth keeping in mind that Chromecast Ultra is only required when playing Stadia games on TV, as any PC with a Chrome browser will work just fine.
Google also announced this week that the next Stadia Connect presentation is scheduled for July 14. The event will focus on games coming to the platform later this year.
