Google Play has more downloads than iOS App Store - report
Google Play beat out the iOS App Store in the number of applications downloaded during the third quarter of 2013.
According to App Annie's third quarter report, 25% more apps were downloaded from Google Play than the iOS App Store, although it still only pulled in about half the revenue of Apple's service.
It shows fairly strong growth over the second quarter, in which Google Play led in application downloads by only 10%. In that time they've also managed to shorten the gap in revenue.
The report attributes the boost to growth in markets in Brazil and Argentina.
This could be good news for Amazon, if their rumoured Android-based games console sees the light of day.
Thanks, MCV.
