How to Get the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages in God of War

To get the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages in God of War you'll need to complete The Sickness main story quest, then undertake the Fafnir's Storeroom Favor side quest for Sindri. Once both these requirements have been fulfilled, you can accept the Family Business Favor from Sindri, and it's during this that you'll obtain the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages inside Northri Stronghold.

The Shattered Gauntlet of Ages is a talisman that Kratos can equip, with a pre-built shockwave power that can be activated by pressing L1+O at the same time. It doesn't do much damage, but can help to throw enemies away if there's lots of them around you, or at least stagger bigger enemies. However, there are six enchantments tied to the Gauntlet hidden across the game, each one of which can increase the power of this ability, add additional effects to it, and increase Kratos' stats.

How to Upgrade the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages

The Gauntlet can only hold one enchantment when first found, but players can upgrade it two more times at Sindri/Brokk's forge to allow it to have three enchantment sockets. The enchantments are as follows:

  • Upgrade one - This initial upgrade for the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages costs 55,000 Hacksilver, 18 Dust of Realms, and 2 Dragon Tears.
  • Upgrade two - The second and final upgrade for the gauntlet costs 90,000 Hacksilver, 25 Dust of Realms, and 3 Dragon Tears.

How to Use the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages

Despite there being six enchantments, the Gauntlet can never hold more than three of them. However, installing three of the above gems inside it will empower its special L1+O shockwave, giving it more power and adding a beam of energy that seeks out and homes in on nearby opponents for significant damage. This power stacks with the abilities inherent to the gems, so you'll also get whatever powers they offer to you. A fully upgraded Gauntlet with three of the Infinity Stone enchantments is a powerful late-game tool against any enemy.
