God of War: these new art trailers highlight the Fire Trolls and Draugrs that Kratos will battle in early 2018
Sony has kept fairly tight-lipped about the new God of War, but these art trailers show some of the creatures we'll presumably slay in the final game.
In God of War for PS4, Kratos will be dealing with the tribulations of fatherhood, which is a pretty good hook for a game like this. He's got a dadbeard happening, albeit without a dadbod. The son won't be a burden, apparently, which is good to know.
We also know that God of War is inspired by Zelda's design, and that we'll be encouraged to explore. Now some videos have emerged showing off some of the foes Kratos will face off against in the game - not how to fight them, mind you, but the concept art behind them. Both of these monsters are pulled from Norse mythology.
The Draugr is an undead creature, not unlike a zombie. Draugr literally means 'again walker', which is basically the same as calling them 'the walking dead'. The difference between draugr and zombies, though, is that draugr typically have superhuman strength, and can increase their size at will. Whether or not God of War's take on these creatures will be able to do that remains to be seen, but they'll likely prove a handful.
The Fire Troll is basically what it sounds like. The art design on this one is pretty wonderful, and if I'm not mistaken, this is the creature we saw Kratos fight back in the first trailer.
In any case, both of these videos have us wanting a God of War artbook alongside the game. God of War will launch exclusively on PS4 in early 2018.
