Glu pulling the plug on GameSpy servers in May, 800 developers and publishers affected

GameSpy middleware tech services will be shuttered by parent company Glu come May 31, affecting every game which uses the service for hosting and matchmaking, per Game Informer.

Over on the GameSpy website, the company suggests users contact developers or publishers of a particular game for more information.

Some of the titles affected are: Dungeon Defenders, Gotham City Impostors, and Red Dead Redemption. Glu states it has 800 game developers and publishers which use the service, which means there are many affected.

The news isn't too surprising, as Glu started shutting down various game servers in 2012 for games such as Sniper Elite, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Wings of War, Battlestations: Midway, Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring, Swat 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront.

Glu purchased the GameSpy middleware tech from IGN back in August 2012 for $2.7 million.
