Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis passes away

Giant Bomb has confirmed that founder Ryan Davis died on July 3.

Davis, a well known American games journalist, was 34. Giant Bomb's team is said to be "stunned" by the news.

"In the face of this awfulness, many of us will at least always remember him as we last saw him: outrageously, uproariously happy, looking forward to his next adventure with the biggest grin his face could hold," said site staffer Matthew Rorie, referring to Davis's recent wedding.

The cause of death has not been reported.

Davis and Jeff Gerstman launched Giant Bomb in 2008 after Gerstmann was fired from Gamespot over his review of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. CBS, Gamespot's owner, acquired the site in 2012.

Our thoughts are with Ryan's friends and family.
