Ghostlight investigating EU release for Devil Survivor 2

Ghostlight Games, devoted European publisher of all things Atlus it can get its hands on, is working out how it can deliver Devil Survivor 2 to frustrated local fans.

In an update to the its blog, the publisher said sales of Devil Survivor Overclocked, a 3DS remake of the first game, have been going well, but the sequel, which is a vanilla DS title, is in doubt.

"Currently the European version of the game is finished and has been approved for release by Nintendo. However, without going into too much detail, retail support for DS titles is understandably low at the moment making it difficult for us to release the title," Ghostlight said.

The publisher hasn't given up, and is "looking into several different ways" to get the game released in Europe.

"One way that I’ve heard being discussed on the Ghostlight grapevine is that we may release a Collector’s Edition of the game exclusively through our website which will mean we’d need your full support in making this release happen," the publisher suggested.

Devil Survivor 2 released in Japan in July 2011 and hit the US in February 2012. a 3DS release is expected in Japan later this year but has not been confirmed elsewhere.

Devil Survivor is just one of the many series which make up the Shin Megami Tensei franchisee, which also includes Devil Summoner (latest western release Soul Hackers), Persona (latest western release Persona 4 The Golden), Digital Devil Saga and more.
