Ghost Recon: Commander shelved, dev team laid off

Tactical social effort Ghost Recon: Commander has been axed, with developer Loot Drop laying off its the entire team as a result.

Loot Drop co-founder Brenda Romero (nee Brathwaite) broke the news on Twitter.

"Sad news. Today, Ghost Recon Commander was cancelled. As a result, we laid off a team of kick-ass developers. If you have openings, ping me," she said.

"I personally recommend these devs. Worked with them under tight deadlines to ship a product that was nominated for an award (got runner-up)."

It seems that Loot Drop itself will survive, but cannot afford to retain the team behind the Ubisoft-published title.

"We still have two projects in the works (one live), and another in design. Right now, I care about the people we had to lay off," Romero added.

Happily, the industry has already responded.

"Amazing! Looks like multiple people already have jobs-in-theory due to you reaching out to us. THANK YOU. These are good people," Romero said later.

Ghost Recon Commander launched in May.
