The default aiming settings in Ghost Recon Breakpoint can be a little confusing at first. Here’s how to switch to third person aiming.

When you load up Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the default aiming will be a first person view. This will be a little jarring if you’re used to playing third-person shooters. There is a way to change this however, and we aim to show you how in this Breakpoint Third Person Aiming Guide. We’ll show you how to switch from iron Sights aiming to third person and give you some tips on why you might want to use both for different situations.

How to Switch to Third Person Aiming

For some reason, Ghost Recon Breakpoint has first person aiming turned on by default. This is certainly odd for a third person shooter, and can make certain situations a lot harder to take on. Follow these steps to turn on third-person aiming as default.

  1. First, navigate to the settings menu
  2. Now select ‘Gameplay’
  3. Look for ‘Default Aiming Mode’

You Can Also Switch Between the Two Aiming Options On the Fly

There’s another way to switch between first and third-person aiming while playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint. While aiming your weapon, press and hold R3/RS. This will toggle third person on or off.

Which Should You Use: Third Or First Person?

Given that you can switch between the two aiming options on the fly, we recommend using a mix of both. In wide open spaces, or when sniping, it makes sense to use first-person aiming. When infiltrating indoor areas, third person can be a great way to utilize cover and keep an eye on enemies.
