After years of trailers and theories, we're starting to get a clearer picture of what Death Stranding really is. But it appears that some people, like legendary director of Mad Max: Fury Road George Miller, have always been vibing with Hideo Kojima's newest project.

In an interview with Game Informer, Kojima was asked if he had ever explained Death Stranding to someone and had the idea click immediately, rather than having to explain himself a bit. Kojima says he had told members of staff, as well as in-game actors like Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, what the game was about, but "they had no idea what I was going to do."

George Miller, however, was different. Kojima describes going to Australia and meeting Miller, who Kojima calls "kind of my mentor?—my god."

In 2017, I went to Australia. I only had a trailer, and I also explained verbally to him. George Miller said, "In all aspects, you are correct. Mathematically, psychologically, physically, philosophically." He kind of started to draw a diagram, he has this theory, so he said, "What you're trying to do is correct." I should have recorded that! I should have sent it to the staff! That was really a happy moment.

Kojima goes on to say that musicians, creators, and directors tend to latch onto the ideas of Death Stranding faster than game industry people. "So, that's why I tend to kind of overlap with musicians and film directors more than the game industry people," Kojima tells Game Informer. "Because they kind of tend to synthesize with me in that way and click faster."

There is something beautiful about Kojima visit Australia and bonding with his god, who happens to be George Miller. We've learned a lot about Death Stranding in the last few days thanks to Tokyo Game Show, including how surprisingly effective Sam's bodily fluids are against ghosts and that Monster energy can survive in dystopian conditions. Whatever this game ends up being, it has the Miller seal of approval.

Death Stranding hits shelves on November 8 for the PlayStation 4. Keep up with everything we know so far in our guide to all things Death Stranding.
