Genshin Impact runs at 60 FPS on PS5 with new compatibility update

Genshin Impact is going to be getting a 60 frames per second bump on the PlayStation 5 thanks to a compatibility update.

Genshin Impact appears to be growing from strength to strength. The free-to-play RPG has been a roaring success, racking up an impressive $100 million in under two weeks after its release.

Just yesterday, the game got its first major release since that explosion of popularity with the release of Version 1.1. Headlining the update are four new characters, Diona, Xinyan, Childe and Zhongli. On top of that, there is new story content, events weapons and a reputation system.

There's more coming too. If you have gotten your hands on the PS5, you will be able to play the game at 60 FPS.

On the PlayStation Blog, miHoYo's brand manager Jason Chuang revealed the boosted performance on the new console. He said: “With the release of PS5 just on the horizon, our team has been working to ensure that Genshin Impact will be fully backwards compatible with the new console. A compatibility update will be available at the release of Version 1.1, featuring 60 FPS gameplay and all the other great features currently supported in the PS4 version.”

To be clear, this is not a PS5 version of the game. Rather it's a new update for the title available through backwards compatibility.

That boost in performance is sure to be excellent for anyone who has been obsessed since the game's release. Which, judging by the download numbers, is a lot of you.

Genshin Impact is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and mobile devices.
