Genshin Impact downloaded at least 17 million times in four days

Genshin Impact has racked up a confirmed 17 million downloads on mobile devices alone in the four days since its release.

The game, a free-to-play action-RPG that caught gamers' eyes last year thanks to the similarities it shares with Breath of the Wild, has already been a huge success.

Mobile performance analyst site App Annie shared some of the game's impressive stats to Twitter. The analyst states that developer MiHoYo has achieved 17,000,000 downloads on mobile alone.

It is also the biggest international launch of a Chinese game the industry has ever seen, according to GamesIndustry.biz,

The game has also released on PS4 and PC, but specific numbers for those platforms have not yet been made available.

Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, estimates that the game to have made a staggering $50 million in its first week (via comments made to IGN).

The bulk of that cash reportedly comes from China, Japan, and the US, and over 5 million players are thought to have come from outside China.

Word of mouth about the title continues to spread, and thanks to a series of accessible features – cross-progression, co-op, and more besides – it makes sense that we'll see this game grow even bigger in the coming days and weeks.
