Gears of War 3 preview details weapons, infestation, characters

The lucky sods over at GamesRadar got to check out Gears of War 3 recently, and the knowledge brought back from Epic's secret lair in North Carolina, contains some interesting stuff indeed.

Apparently, things on Sera have have taken a turn for the worse. Set 18-months after Gears 2, the COG has disbanded and Chairman Prescott has disappeared. Humans and Locust alike are scarce, but a new invader has arrived in the form of a Lambent infestation. Yikes.

That's not all though, through here, the site chats a bit about the cast of characters, Dom's beard, naval battles, flamethrowers, brutal looking weapons and the improvised tech being used by the human survivors.

Other than talking about what's in the game, the site had a chance to speak to Cliff, Rod Fergusson, and the game's writer Karen Traviss.

According to Bleszinski, Gears 3 is not the only project "in the fire".

"I might be working on things you might not hear about for years," he said. "I’m the kind of person who absolutely needs to have multiple piles of projects to work on. Gears happens to be the big pile at the moment, but I assure you that Bulletstorm is building up to a larger pile and there are other projects as well – multiple irons in the fire.

"It just happens that Gears is the one presently in need of some hammering".

Gears 3's slated for April 5, 2011 in the US and April 8 in the UK, and some nice new shots of it hit last night.

Thanks, Evil Avatar.
