Gears of War 2 launches worldwide

Gears of War 2 is launching as we type, ending a journey that started with Cliff Bleszinski walking onto the GDC stage in February with a plastic gun.
Midnight events have been taking place all over the States and Europe overnight, so keep watching for reports from the frontline. Here's the first one, from a Gamestop in Connecticut. Men, queues, hoods: it's like the good old days relived.
Bleszinski himself is at the LA launch, which is happening right now.
We couldn't get to the London event last night because Mike lives in Denmark, Nathan lives in Texas and Pat's wife is so full of babies she may actually explode soon.
