Gearbox is teasing another game reveal at PAX East - could it be Project 1v1?
Gearbox has another surprise in store for fans at its PAX East panel later this month.
Gearbox, who only recently started teasing Borderlands 3 for reveal at PAX East, has begun hinting at some other game reveal. The studio tweeted a screenshot of an operating table with a robot of some kind lying on top.
Without context, it's hard to say for sure what game the screenshot is taken from. That doesn't mean we can't have a few guesses, however. The tweet clearly states it's teasing "another game", so we know it's not Borderlands 3.
Assuming it's a first-party Gearbox game, it could be a teaser for Project 1v1. You'd be forgiven for not remembering anything with that name, because Gearbox has been incredibly quiet about it since it was revealed.
Project 1v1 was announced back in 2017 as a competitive 1v1, first-person shooter with a deck building component. Since that somewhat muted reveal, we've not seen a single piece of artwork or a second of gameplay.
The game's official site is incredibly bare-bones, too, but it does hint at a sci-fi setting, and uses a similar aesthetic to the screenshot shared above. Only limited, NDA'd tests have been held for Project 1v1, though Gearbox did show it off behind closed doors at E3 2018.
It would make sense for Gearbox to officially reveal the game at PAX, even if it may get overshadowed by all the Borderlands 3 talk.
Beyond that, this really could be anything. A new Duke Nukem perhaps, or DLC for Gearbox-published We Happy Few? There's obviously a chance this is something completely new, so we'll have to wait and see.
PAX East doesn't start until March 28, so there's plenty of time to drop a few more hints.
