GDC: "Evil EA" isn't so evil after all, says Pandemic boss
Speaking here, Pandemic president Josh Resnick has said that owner EA's plan to target quality titles is in force, and was the reason behind the delay of Mercenaries 2.
"I went looking for the evil side of EA to come down and try and ship it, but they actually believe what they’re saying, which is EA’s future lies in really bringing up the quality of their whole portfolio and investing big in original IPs and that’s why they bought us, frankly," he said on the subject of EA not forcing the studio to bring the game to market before it was ready. "They bought us and did so because we have a track record of doing that and that’s what they’re looking for in all of EA."
On the subject of the quality of EA's portfolio, CEO John Riccitiello today said of the publisher's falling average Metacritic score, ""There is nothing acceptable about that. Our core game titles are accurately measured and summarized by these assessments, and that is a very big deal."
The company's average score on the site last year fell from 77 to 72 percent.
