GDC Europe adds Ubisoft Child of Light, PS4 tech, and funding talks

GDC Europe 2013 organizers have announced talks from Ubisoft's Patrick Plourde who will reveal the project Child of Light at the event. Sony engineers Chris Ho and Richard Stenson will discuss PS4's shading language, and Execution Labs' Jason Della Rocca will provide a discussion on funding options.

In the Child of Light session, Ubisoft Montreal creative director Patrick Plourde who was lead designer on two Assassin's Creed titles and the creative director on Far Cry 3, host the talk "Small Projects in AAA Studios".

During which, he will reveal Child of Light, a game he said was a personal challenges to see if he could create a game that would be the opposite of triple-A: "a small team, a small budget, and an intimate scope."

Jason Della Rocca's talk, "Startup Funding: Indie Options, Approaches, and Realities" will explore options such as venture capital, crowdfunding, grants, and other ways to get funding.

More talks will be revealed leading up to GDC Europe.

The tracks take place August 19-21 at the Cologne Congress-Centrum Ost in Cologne, Germany during Gamescom.
