Crytek’s Fasih Sayin will host a talk on how player patterns change based game genres preferences.

Titled "User Responses to Narrative-Driven Games" the talk will discuss "methods of predicting how players are likely to behave upon being confronted by a choice in an interactive narrative."

Sayin will use data analysis of 150 players' "each and every decision" made in narrative-focused such as Mass Effect, The Witcher, Heavy Rain, The Walking Dead and others over a four year period.

Using this research, Sayin will explain how and why players make decisions and how this puts them in one of three main archetype categories.

Other talks announced were: Ninja Metrics CEO Dmitri Williams "Social Whales: Understanding and Leveraging a New Kind of Player" and "The Rituals of Mobile Gaming: Understanding the True Building Blocks of Customer Value" from Immersyve’s Scott Rigby and Troy Skinner.

GDC 2014 takes place in San Francisco March 17-21.
