GameStop US to accept Resident Evil: Mercenaries trade-ins from today, gets Amazonbombed

Following a crazy 48 hours, which has seen the discovery of a save game system that doesn't let you delete save files and one retailer apparently set to pull its stock from shelves, US store GameStop has said it'll accept trade-ins of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries from today.

It comes after the company decided not to sell the game second-hand at first due to the new save system. That decision has since been reversed.

"GameStop did ask the U.S. store base to stop accepting trades on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D as we evaluated the save system for the game," the company said in a statement to IGN.

"Upon further review of the process with our publisher partner, Capcom, GameStop will resume taking trades on the game effective Wednesday, June 29."

Earlier yesterday, it was reported that Australian retailer EB Games had pulled whatever stock it had of the game due to the save game system in Mercenaries. Capcom had previously said that the second-hand market was "not a factor" in its creation.

It seems that those statements are falling on deaf ears for Amazon users, though. The game got carpet bombed - or rather, Amazonbombed - with negative reviews on the game's listing on the website. Oops.

It's out here on Friday in the UK for 3DS.
