Games Now! The best iPhone and iPad games for Friday, May 29
Don't destroy your weekend by playing your old, boring games. Here's the best new stuff for you iPhone and iPad this week.
The best FREE iOS games this week
Capitals - Free Word Battle (iPad, iPhone)
Form words, Scrabble-style, in an effort to protect your "capital" and grab territory from your opponent. Expect frantic battles in this turn-based multiplayer twist on the letters genre.
Earthcore: Shattered Elements (iPad, iPhone)
Earthcore is yet another fantasy card-battler, but comes with the added bonus of exceptional presentation. Seriously, it's beautiful. If you're into Hearthstone and Magic you'd do well to check this out. It is free, after all.
Ball King (iPad, iPhone)
Finally, a game in which you can throw a frog through a basketball hoop. Ball King is a patently ridiculous game in which you score by throwing increasingly stupid objects into the ring. Don't pretend you're above it. Hit the link.
The best PAID iOS games this week
Digit & Dash: €1.99 (iPad, iPhone)
Insomniac Games, the studio behind Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet & Clank, made Digit & Dash, so everyone familiar with the name knows to expect quality. Control two characters simultaneously, timing jumps and smashing the bad guys, to thwart an evil mutant hot dog (really). It's cheap. Buy it.
Grim Fandango Remastered: €9.99 (iPad, iPhone)
This reinvention of arguably gaming's most famous point-and-click adventure may set you back a tenner, but it's easily worth it. Journey the Land of the Dead and fix a ridiculous conspiracy. Why not? Be sure to check whether or not your hardware's compatible before you buy.
The Last Warlock: €4.99 (iPad, iPhone)
Turn-based strategy in a Minecraft-type world full of spells, swords and loot. You, a warlock, get to summon awesome mythical creatures to do your dirty work, and can also customise your character to make it extra-natty. You may raise an eyebrow at the familiarity of the visuals, but there's plenty of fun to be had here.
